It's new, It's FUN....it's RECYCLED?

Yep! It's Artsy Fartsy Jewelry made from recycled plastic containers. Seeing, touching and feeling is believing when it comes to my creations. The jewelry of Artsy Fartsy comes alive in person! So come see me when you can...until then, let's talk about exciting resource I've discovered in recycled plastic.

Hi there, I'm Susi D. the artist in residence at the Artsy Fartsy Studio in my home in Alexandria, Virginia. That said, there are many other friends, relatives, co-workers, in-laws and out-laws who contribute to the creativity and stash of recycled containers that make their way into AFJ designs.

I've got some great stuff to talk about and can't wait to hear your ideas and thoughts about it! So bye for now....but let's talk again soon...

  1. Hi there,

I just bought a pair of earrings from you at the Warrenton Festival and I love them! I'm telling everyone I know about your products! Such a great idea! I'm an art teacher and I plan to purchase more of your products. By any chance would you be able to make earrings with solid gold ear wires?

    Thanks!

  2. Hi! I just yesterday bought a pair of earrings from you, also at the festival. I LOVE THEM!!! I was so inspired by your work, I went out and bought all the materials to make the beautiful jewelry. I've already made like 3 pairs! I'm going to tell all my friends about your company! I plan to buy many products in the future!
I also wanted to know if you wanted bottle caps??!! I realize you probably don't want them, but I have tons of them, a figured you could probably recycle them in some sort of way. Thanks for having such an AMAZING idea. Thanks! -Prpltiedye4peace (aka- Artsy Fartsy Super Fan)

  3. Sarah,
It is wonderful to hear from you and to know you are enjoying your earrings! Great question and I absolutely can make earrings with solid gold ear wires, it would just add a couple dollars to the cost...Let me know what you are interested in. I can change any design out for sterling or gold. The main reason for not using sterling initially is the cost, Stainless Steel is affordable and keeps the costs down for my customers. Thank you for purchasing and promoting recycled products! Susi

  4. Hey Purple Tie Dye 4 Peace! I'll bet you are having FUN...there are so many colors and labels out there -- I would love to see what you dream up! Thank you for your purchase and very KIND comments. As a matter of fact, I have used bottle caps in the past. They are large when flattened and make a bit more noise rattling together than plastic...but they are still fun. What I did was use a steel chasing hammer and chasing plate...then cover the bottle cap to protect the paint and then tap it into a flat round. They are challenging to get a hole with the dremel drill, but very cool looking as earrings or bracelet charms. I once collected bottle caps off the street in Rome, and made a bracelet from them and other bits I pickup up on the streets in Italy. I should probably post that on my website...I call it a memory bracelet. It also includes disks cut from my roma pass metro card (smile). The opportunities to think outside the box and create with plastic are unlimited - I hope you have as much FUN with it as I do!!

  5. Thanks for letting me know how to use bottle caps (it'll come in handy) for jewelry. I also had another question... When I use the Paper Punchers to cut out the shapes on the materials it always dents, and I can't use it anymore... solution? Is there a special kind I need, because I can't find a brand/kind that works. Thanks for all the help! I hope to show you my jewelry soon ☺.
